The UX/UI department is responsible for all user-facing design at Ozow. Whether that’s our website, Ozow ME - our progressive web app, or merchant-facing products, we have the UX/UI team to thank for bringing our products and features to life in a simple, organized and elegant manner. What gets you most excited about coming to work?
HPUX: “So many reasons. Firstly, the people. The Ozow team is full of energy, and I have built such strong bonds with my tribe. I also get excited about the work I do; it’s challenging and exciting.”
SUXD: “A new day with new possibilities. The ability to find inspiration and deal with like-minded individuals who help make better UX, this is what motivates me every day.”
What's your favourite part about working in the UX/UI team?
HPUX: “Creating solutions and experiences to real problems. We’re a quick and lean machine which empowers us to make quick and impactful decisions.”
SUXD: “My favourite part is that we are so cross-departmental that we are involved in all departments. We reach and build within every sector of the company, ultimately growing and achieving the business' UX/UI goals. By being a part of such an instrumental process at Ozow I get to see the fruits of my labor come to life. I also enjoy being able to create experiences that leave lasting impressions on our users. It makes me so happy.”
What does your average day look like?
HPUX: “So, we have our ceremonies which enable us to get a view of what everyone is working on. But the day is mixed between solving problems, collaboration, and coffee. Every day I strive to complete my commitments.”
SUXD: “Have to start with some coffee, after I layout daily plans followed by catchups with marketing and UX, then I start with the various sprint tickets brought in, by 3pm I usually have the bulk of the work done then I am ready to present to the rest of our team in the daily standup and finish off with the usual admin or any pressing focuses.”
What would you say to anyone new joining the department?
HPUX: “Have fun. The UX Department is always evolving and is a living entity, so be yourself, be authentic. There is so much support, all you have to do is reach out and you will always find a helping hand.”
SUXD: “It's a rollercoaster, learn fast, embrace mistakes and better yourself all while building amazing products through research, iteration and development. Come aboard curious and hungry to build better design.”
What are your thoughts on your growth/potential growth at Ozow?
HPUX: “Endless. Ozow is a company of opportunities. It just takes a little bit of courage to open those doors. So, I’ve found that my growth at Ozow can be anything I want it to be.”
SUXD: “I feel growth is a measure of just how hard and how well you work. In the time I've been here, I can confidently say that Ozow makes you the best version of yourself. Growing in your profession, but also growing within the company ethos. Ozow values your abilities and makes sure you know that and are reaping from it.”
What separates Ozow from other companies?
HPUX: “This is a real fast paced company. We make quick decisions and deliver quickly. Added to this, it’s all about trying to learn as much as you can.”
SUXD: “We are a bunch of overachievers. Always striving to be better but also remembering that as the company grows everyone adds inherent value.”
